777,328. Mineral-mining machines ; dust suppression in mines ; goaf filling machines. TRENCZAK, L. F. June 4, 1953 [June 7, 1952; Nov. 29, 1952; March 20, 1953], No. 15492/53. Classes 68 (1) and 85. The cutting means of a mineral-mining machine are disposed ahead of the self-propelled chassis of the machine and comprise two cutter bars 4, 5 each rotatably supported by a pair of arms 6 and 7 pivotally mounted on the chassis 1, and endless cutter chains circulating about each of the arms 6 or 7, said chains passing about sprockets secured to the associated cutter bar. As the machine is advanced the cutter bars 4, 5 form cuts extending from the face of the seam at and parallel to the roof and floor of the seam and the cutter chains make vertical cuts interconnecting the first two cuts. The one or the other or both of the cutter bars 4, 5 are moved by pivoting of the associated pair of supporting arms to form a severing kerf between the inner ends of the kerfs at roof and floor level. The cutter bars and chains may be replaced by series of reciprocating picks. The chassis 1 runs on endless tracks 3 and is provided with vertically adjustable endless tracks 2 for engaging the roof and a shield 11. Loading means such as a scoop 9 and loader arms are provided beneath the cutting means for removing disintegrated mineral rearwards. The cutter bars 4, 5 can be hollow to permit of water being discharged through holes therein to suppress dust. A centrifugal stower 28 may be provided at the back of the machine for goaf filling.
