500,055. Endless belt or chain conveyers. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd., LOGAN, W.A., and REID, W. Aug. 18, 1937, No. 22637. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] In mining coal or other minerals, a belt, scraper chain or like conveyer is arranged close to the working face in the track to be followed by the coal &c. cutting-machine and between temporarily-fixed terminal positions as far apart as possible and between which the coal &c. cutting-machine moves in cutting, the coal &c. which is broken down being loaded on to the conveyer fur removal. As shown, a conveyer belt D is arranged along the face and supported by conveyer sections c, with upper guide rollers 4 and removable lower guide rollers 5, to near the discharge end 2. After the coal-cutting machine B, with undercutter 6, shearing cutter 7, loader 8 and, if desired, an over-cutter, has cut a short distance away from the discharge end 2, a boom E is attached thereto, and the belt D is trained over pulleys 10 in the boom and pulleys 9 on the machine ; as the machine advances further, conveyer sections c are moved from the front of the machine and inserted beneath the boom. Alternatively, the belt D may pass under, through or along one side of the machine body; or one run above, and the other below, the body, and either run may be used for conveying. The loader may be separate or hand-loading may be used. Specification 411,256, [Group XXI], is referred to.
