Abstract
762,299. Mineral-mining machines. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd. June 29, 1955 [March 11, 1954], No. 7052/54. Class 68 (1). In a mineral-mining machine that cuts at the buttock of a face of a seam, there is transversely disposed of and on a frame 10 hauled along the face by a winch 30, a chain cutter assembly, a vertically-adjustable rotary cutter assembly, a conveyor behind and beneath the rotary cutter assembly but 15 above the frame, and a conveyor behind the frame. The cutter assemblies extend from and beyond or beyond the side of frame adjacent the seam to the other side of the frame. The chain cutter assembly preferably includes a pair of endless, pick-carrying chains 14, 15 and is so designed as to cut the mineral away between the level of the floor and the level of, or higher than, a platform 13 on the frame. The rotary cutter assembly comprises a pair of pick-armed scrolls 20 and a bar cutter 25 rotatably mounted in and at the end of a vertically adjustable arm 27 pivotally mounted on the frame. The cutter assemblies together with the conveyors, preferably screw conveyors 30, 33 eject all the mineral sidewards of the frame on to a face conveyor. The conveyor 30 deals with all the mineral moving rearwards over the platform 13 and the conveyor 33 with all the mineral scraped off the floor from beneath the frame by a plate 33A.
