Abstract

923,100. Mineral-mining machines. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. May 27, 1959 [June 4, 1958], No. 17819/58. Addition to 744,959. Class 68 (1). In a mining machine as described in the parent Specification which is referred to, there is provided ahead of the cutter drum 15 a cutter assembly e.g. trepanner 31, closed loop chain cutter or a boring head, that removes most of the mineral to be mined from a seam in the passage of the machine along the face of the seam. The cutter drum now serves in a facecleaning up role instead of being the main mineral-cutting means as disclosed in the parent Specification.
