693,789. Coat-cutting machines. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. March 21, 1951 [June 28, 1950]; No. 6808/51. Class 68(i) A coal-cutting machine of the type comprising a plate-like cutting disc arranged on a rotating shaft is characterized in that the cutting disc is rotatably mounted on an eccentric pin on the shaft. The cutting disc 23, having teeth continuously around its periphery or formed on sector-like parts, intermittently mounted around the periphery, is freely mounted by the roller bearings 24 on the eccentric pin 22 of the shaft 19. The pin 22 is at an inclination to the axis of the shaft 19, which is driven from the compressed air motor 11 by bevel gearing 18. The motor also drives a winch drum 32 via a gear train 26-31, a claw clutch and a slipping clutch. The motor, cutting disc and winch drum are mounted in a frame 10 which is supported oh a hollow foot at the side of the machine remote from the'coal face, while slide shoes are arranged at the ends of the foot and extend towards the coal face. Clearing beams 43, 44 are hinged to the frame 10 by horizontal bolts, and rollers 39, 42 are mounted on the ends of the beams over which pass the winding cable from the winch drum. The coal which falls laterally alongside the machine is pushed on to the conveyer 40 by a slide plate 52 mounted on the rearmost clearing beam.
