918,503. Mineral-mining machines. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. Dec. 4, 1959, No. 41285/59. Class 68 (1). In a mining machine having a plough guided on a face conveyer, the plough and the conveyer being driven by separate motors, the driving motor for the plough is arranged below the discharge end of the conveyer and is coupled by a vertically arranged transmission to the plough driving sprocket which is mounted on the coal face side of the conveyer. Fig. 2 shows a conveyer 12 arranged in front of a coal face 11 in the gallery 10, a plough (not shown) being guided on the conveyer. The discharge end 13 of the conveyer is in the gate road 14 and is supported on a stand 15. The conveyer 12, 13 discharges on to a gate conveyer 16. The motor 19 for driving the face conveyer 12 is on the goaf side of the conveyer which it drives through mitre gearing 20. The motor 22 for driving the plough is arranged beneath the projecting discharge end of the face conveyer. If a second motor is required for the face conveyer, it may be arranged, with the plough motor, under the discharge end of the conveyer.
