A double chain scraper conveyer is driven by a pair of sprocket-wheels 3, 4 which are rigidly mounted on separate stub-shafts 1, 2 one of which is driven by a motor, the shafts 1, 2 being coupled together by a coupling 5, e.g. an Oldham coupling, which permits the shafts to rotate together when not in correct alignment with each other.
