[Also in Group XXI] A machinery guard for a coal-cutting machine of the type having a jib provided with a cutter chain. The guard encloses the part of the cutter jib outside the working face and has a movable part 13 which is resiliently urged towards the tip of the cutter jib so that fenders 14 and 15 engage the working face and form a dust seal (see Group XXI).
