Abstract

483,351. Coal cutting &c. machines. LEWIS, O. F., and NEWTON CHAMBERS, & CO., Ltd. March 30, 1937, No. 9035. [Class 68 (i)] An endless-chain coal &c. cutting machine has a renew - able hard wearing liner secured in the jib guide in which the cutter chain runs and covering the side and bottom bearing surfaces of the guide. In Fig. 1, the jib 1 is machined to receive the liner 3 which is held by a cutter-chain retainer 9 as described in Specification 482,637 and welds 11. In Fig. 4, the liner is centrally divided and secured by a weld 18 while the flange 20 may be omitted, or separate and held by welds 11, 19. The jib may also be built of side and bottom plates 2, welded together.
