559,937. Tea manufacture. DAVIDSON & CO., Ltd., and INCE, F. V. May 14, 1943, No. 7720. [Class 129] A tea-cutting machine comprises one or more rotary cutters 1 having teeth formed by angular circumferential grooves 42 and longitudinal grooves 41, co-operating with one or more serrated-edge knives 3 projecting into the grooves 42, which are deeper than grooves 41. The feed hopper 15 has a guide shield 28, 29, adjustable vertically and horizontally to vary the amount of breaking of the tea before cutting. The knives 3 are mounted on carriers 6 adjustable to and from the cutters 1 by eccentrices 22, and are adjustably pressed against eccentric abutments 36 by springs 8.
