492,758. Mining-machine cutter-chains. PHILP, J. I. March 30, 1937, No. 9015. [Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] A cutter - chain for a mining-machine comprises substantially solid pickholding boxes 9 pivoted on hardened steel bearing- bushes 12 locked to side straps 2, 3, surmounted by pick-holding blocks 1 ; the locking is effected by projections or recesses 14 engaging recesses or projections 15, and the side straps 2, 3 are integral with the blocks 1, or one or both straps is secured to the block by welding, screwing, &c. Joint pins 7 pass through the bushings. Guide ribs 5, 13 may be provided on the links and the straps 2, 3 have openings 8 for the passage of cuttings. Some or all the pick boxes or blocks may carry two picks, or a succession of links carrying one or more picks may be followed by a link comprising side straps surmounted by a block not adapted for carrying a pick.
