229,807. Mavor & Coulson, Ltd., and Davies, A. W. Dec. 31, 1923. Endless - chain machines.-In a cutterchain for a coal &c. mining machine the cutters C - - C<3> are provided with side cutting edges 2 and are arranged so as to occupy different positions laterally and to present cutting edges across the whole width of the cut. The outer cutters C<3> are preferably disposed at an angle of about 60‹ to the longitudinal plane of the chain and have each a cutting edge substantially at right angles to that plane, and the edges of any pair of adjacent cutters preferably intersect at about 40‹. An example of the longitudinal disposition of the cutters is given.
