In a mineral-mining machine pick-armed endless chains or belts 4 are so guided about a jib 2 as to extend, when seen from above, through substantially 90 degrees segments of circles from the front of the jib to a side thereof so that mineral when cut from the face is carried rearwards and sidewards to be discharged by the belts alone at the side of the machine. A drum cutter 6 is provided at the front of the jib which is vertically swingable.
