Abstract
694,038. Mining machines. SWALLOW, R. H. July 10, 1951 [May 18, 1950], No. 12416/50. Class 68(i) A coal cutting machine 10 which cuts a complete block of coal away from the face as it moves and loads it on to the lower run 12b of a loading conveyer mounted immediately alongside the coal face as it moves, advances between the upper and lower runs 12a, 12b of the conveyer, the bottom run of which is operated in the opposite direction to the line of advance of the machine. The coal is cut by chain jibs 20, 21 and a cutter bar 25, and is loaded by a plough 30 or a transverse conveyer or both. The Provisional Specification also describes the loading conveyer as passing through the machine.
