Abstract

600,138. Mining-machines. LOGAN, W. A. Sept. 28, 1945, No. 25201. [Class 68 (i)] A mining-machine of the chain cutter type comprises a frame to which is attached a main jib E around which circulates a coarse pitch chain B carrying cutting tools D. Mounted on and in planes parallel to the upper and lower faces of the main jib E are two jibs F and G of substantially triangular shape and narrow width around which circulate tool carrying cutter chains H of finer pitch than that of the chain 13. The cutter chains are driven by sprockets M. N and O on a shaft mounted in bearings on the main jib casting. The speed of the chains is altered by varying the sizes of the respective sprockets.
