Abstract
587,352. Mining - machines. MOORE, M. S., and MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. April 3, 1944, Nos. 6194 and 8468. [Class 68 (i)] A cutter-loader combination for mining is provided with mechanical means for cutting across the seam and longitudinally -of the face between a back shearing cut and the face. In Figs. 1 and 2, a machine comprising transverse conveyer 1, loader bar 2, combs 3 and a shearing jib 4, is provided with cutter chains 9, driven around arms 8 through gearing 5, 6, actuated by the loader bar, the chains 9 driving a further chain 13 on a jib 14; the arms 8 and jib 14 may be adjustable vertically. The parts may be transferable for cutting in either direction. In Figs. 4 and 5, loader bars 23 are provided on each side of the conveyer 21 and each is adapted to drive through gearing 27 ... 29, a shearing jib and a slitting jib each comprising cutter chains' 32, 35, which are pivotally supported for adjustment of the height of cut or for folding over the conveyer for flitting. More than one slitting jib may be provided along a loader bar. Specification 556,936 is referred to.
