678,399. Endless chain mining machines. ANDERSON, A., and ANDERSON, BOYES & CO., Ltd. Feb. 1, 1951. [Jan. 28, 1950] No. 2292/50. Class 68 (i). To the rear of a longwall chain cutter 1 having either a trepanning jib or a jib with an upturned end 3, there is secured a loader unit 4 having supported thereon to swing about a vertical axis a member to the outer end of which is pivotally mounted a shearing chain cutter jib which pivots about said member in a vertical plane co-planer with the shearing portion of the cutter jib when the axis of the member is at right angles to the axis of the advance of the machine.. The member may be either the jib 6 of a loader conveyer 9, the shear cutter being driven by bevel gearing from the outermost sprocket of the jib 6, or a hollow shaft that is supported by a turret on the loader and which contains the driving shaft for the drive sprocket of the shear cutter chain. Specification 624,805 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
