Abstract

561,083. Mining machines. MOORE, M. S., and MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Sept. 5, 1942, No. 12554. [Class 68 (i)] In a mining machine with overcutting and undercutting jibs 12, 14, with their cutters running in opposite directions, the cutting faces are so arranged that the cutting action in each case tends to pull the jibs forwardly so as to counteract movements tending to twist the machine out if its course ; wheh a shearing jib 3 is provided, its cutting face is similarly arranged.' In the reversible machine shown, the shearing jib 3 is carried on inclined pivots 6 on an arm 7 carried on vertical trunnions 8 at the end of the jib of the loader conveyer 1, the jib being adjusted by an arm 9 and handwheel 10 ; the outer end of the overcutting jib 12 is attached to the shearing jib by brackets 15.
