Abstract
707,383. Mining machines. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS), Ltd. May 25, 1951 (Feb. 27, 1950], No. 5018/50. Class 68(1) In a combined mineral cutting and loading machine of the type having one or more jibs 1, 2 each comprising a horizontal portion and a portion inclined to the horizontal, preferably at right angles thereto, about which universally connected pick-carrying chains circulate, there is provided rearwardly of the horizontal portion of the lowest jib an upwardly and rearwardly extending ripper conveyer 3 which feeds a transverse conveyer 9. The upper jib is mounted in a hydraulicallyoperated vertically-adjustable turret 11, whilst a ripper conveyer may be mounted at each end of the machine, the leading one being retracted clear of the face. British Specifications 590,694, 590,695 and 590,696 are referred to, the latter two only in the Provisional Specification.
