649,961. Planers. LOBBE, W. May 26, 1948, No. 14270. Convention date, June 17, 1947. [Class 68 (i)] To prevent a double-ended planer and loader A from overturning due to the lateral thrust exerted on the machine, there is provided a lee-board-like part or parts 20 which lie under the full width of the adjacent conveyer C disposed parallel to the face so that the combined weight of the conveyer and the coal carried by it acts on the lee-board or boards so increasing the stability of the planer against overturning. A wedge-shaped slide is secured to the free end of the lee-boards by a chain so that as the planer advances, the conveyer is forced up to the new face by the slide as it squeezes between the conveyer and adjacent pit props.
