Associated with the over-cutter jib 6 of a longwall chain cutter mining machine 7 is a cuttings discharge device which receives the cuttings from the jib by a chute 5 that discharges said cuttings through an opening 3 in a casing 1 at the rear of the machine in which a bladed rotor 4 is mounted to rotate in a horizontal plane.
