Abstract

704,681. Mining machines. ANDERSON, A., and ANDERSON, BOYES & CO., Ltd. June 17, 1952 [March 17, 1951], No. 6461/51. Class 68(1) In a mining machine incorporating two cutting rotors 4, 15, armed with peripheral cutting picks and rotatable about axes at different levels, the upper cutting rotor 4 and its driving motor 6 are supported by a rigid frame 2 which is pivoted at one end 3 to the body 1 of the machine and is connected at the other end to elevating means 7, e.g. a screw or hydraulic jack. Disposed below said frame 2, preferably between the upper and lower cutting rotors, is a transverse conveyer 11. The end of the conveyer remote from the face is at a higher level than the end adjacent thereto. Deflecting means 14 direct the mineral cut by at least one of the cutting rotors on to said conveyer 11.
