Angular adjustment of a loading cowl about the axis of rotation of a cutter drum cantilever-supported on a vertically swingable boom is caused by actuation of rams coupled to a cable fixed at the ends to the boom and jackmounting body of the machine and passed about appropriately positioned pulleys on the body, boom, and a cowl-mounting arm supported on the boom co-axial of the drum.
