Abstract
606,802. Velocitymodulated tubes. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc. Jan. 29, 1943, No. 1238/45. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1942. Divided out of 606,794. [Class 39 (i)] Means are provided for maintaining parallelism during a tuning relative movement of portions of a cavity resonator. Such means may comprise two spaced flexible walls 132, 138, Fig. 1, connected to the re-entrant resonator member 136. The tilting movement imparted by lever 43 is converted into a parallel movement of grids 137, 137a of the reflex oscillator, which is of the type described in Specification 535,767. The cathode 139 and reflector 140 may be mounted on flexible walls 155, 143 and adjusted in use by screws 152, 147; or they may be adjusted in manufacture on a jig and fixed by pouring molten metal of low melting- point into the corrugations of the flexible walls. In another modification, parallel movement of wall portion 13, Fig. 3, produced by a yoke 172 moved by differential screw 178 against spring 120. Holes 173 for forced air cooling are provided in yoke 172 and also in outer supporting yoke 165. Specification 606,803 also is referred to.
