Abstract

582,165. High - frequency discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd., and GIBSON, W. T. Oct. 16, 1940, No. 15334. [Class 39 (i)] A diaphragm 10 within the vacuum space of a resonator, such as a velocity modulated oscillator, is movable for tuning by turning a nut 21 on a rod 20 scaled in a press 22; this closes the inwardly projecting glass end 15 of the envelope, in the length of which end a metal bellows 14 is sealed. A tube 17 sealed to the press is screwed on to a tube 11 fixed in the diaphragm. The nut 21 bears on a saddle 19. The collector 13 is carried by the rod 20. A back coupling loop 12 connects the two resonator chambers and power is abstracted by the concentric line 24, 27. The copper envelope part 1 may be cooled by water or air blast.
