Abstract

577,278. Electron oscillators and multipliers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., FREMLIN, J. H., and HALL, R. N. May 24, 1940, No. 9189. [Class 39 (i)] In an electron oscillator wherein a stream of electrons is bunched into groups which excite a resonator R2, primary groups impinge on a secondary emitter A so that groups of secondaries pass through the resonator ; the electrode A may be a grid or a thin film. The collector electrode B is insulated from and is at a higher potential than the resonator R2 ; the two are connected by a condenser. The primary stream may be grouped by a second resonator R1 or by other means ; coaxial conductor resonators as described in Specification 537,490 may be used. The two resonators may be coupled so that the device acts as an oscillation generator or it may be used as an amplifier.
