Abstract

574,967. Cathode ray tubes. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., RYDE, J. W., and SLOANE, R. W. Oct. 8, 1940, No. 15016. [Class 39 (i)] In an ultra high-frequency changer or multiplier a beam from a gun 1 is passed through deflecting plates to which a determined frequency is applied, through a perforated plate and then through the grids 8, 9 of an oscillator being finally received by an anode 2. As a multiplier the increase in frequency is due to the deflection of the beam over the perforated plate, a loop in the resonator taking out the higher frequency oscillations. If the resonator is caused to oscillate at some frequency the modified output is taken from the anode 2, this may be at such a potential that only the fastest electrons reach it. The resonator may be placed between the gun 1 and deflecting plates 5. A screen may be placed in front of the anode 2. Specification 328,680, [Class 39 (i)], is referred to.
