Abstract

610,120. Electron oscillators. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 27, 1946, No. 9417. Convention date, Aug. 20, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] A thermionic valve for use at high frequencies has at least a cathode, a control grid to which oscillations are applied, an auxiliary electrode, a perforated positive electrode and a reflecting electrode arranged in that order; the spacing of the electrodes and their potentials are such that electrons pass through the positive electrode, are reflected back again, and are then either collected or reflected. The time interval between an electron crossing and recrossing the positive electrode is an integral number of periods of the oscillations to be amplified. In Fig. 5, 11 is the positive electrode; electrons are reflected back by electrode 12 and are then collected by the electrode 20. The output is shown as taken from electrodes 12 and 13, but may be taken from any of the electrodes 11, 12, 13. Fig. 6 shows another arrangement in which the electrons are reflected to and fro across electrode 11 by the electrodes 12, 12<1>.
