466,929. Thermionic valves and valve circuits. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 25, 1936, No. 20678. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1935. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] An amplifying or superheterodyne circuit has a valve with an apertured anode, and, on the far side of the anode from the cathode, an electrode which is connected with a screening grid so as to be at the same potential, and has a surface emitting secondary electrons which pass to the anode ; the mutual conductance of the valve is thereby increased. The anode may be a wire, gauze or apertured plate. A regulating grid may be interposed between the secondary-emitting electrode and the anode. As shown, the local oscillator circuit 13 is connected between the secondary-emitting electrode 8 and the cathode 4, and the intermediate frequency circuit 14 is connected between the anode 7 and the cathode. The circuit 13 is coupled with a coil 15 connected with the regulating grid 11. In a modified circuit the coil 14 and grid 11 are omitted.
