Abstract
291,354. Levy, L. May 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-A valve for use as frequency changer has an anode 4, Fig. 4, and a grid 10 on one side of a filament cathode 2, and a control electrode 6 on the other side the input circuit such as an aerial 13 being connected between the grid and filament, an oscillating circuit 11 and a receiver 8, such as a telephone or amplifier, being connected between the filament and the anode battery 5, and the control electrode 6 connected to the anode-filament circuit in such a manner that its potential is below that of the filament and the difference of potential between the filament and control electrode varies in the same direction as the intensity of the anode current. As shown in Fig. 3, the anode 4 is cylindrical, the auxiliary electrode 6 of curved shape, the grid 10 is helical, and the filament 2 straight. In a modification a second grid, maintained at a positive potential, is mounted between the cathode and the grid and the auxiliary electrode is connected through a condenser with the anode and through a resistance or choking coil with the cathode. A lightsensitive electrode may be used instead of an incandescent filament. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also an oscillation generator having a filament disposed between an anode and a control electrode. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
