Abstract
441,341. Thermionic valves. HAUSSER, F. 1., 24, Blumenthalstrasse, Heidelberg, Germany. July 17, 1934, No. 20921. Convention date, July 17, 1933. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] In a brake-field oscillation generator in which there is arranged between the cathode and the positive grid, a negatively-biassed grid screening the positive grid from electrons passing from the cathode, the circuit determining the oscillations being connected between the positive grid and the cathode, means are provided whereby oscillations are applied to the negative grid in phase with those on the positive grid. The stream of electrons through the grid openings increases strongly in the positive phase and decreases strongly in the negative phase. As shown, the negative grid G<1> consists of trough-shaped members of semicircular, U -or V-cross-section, arranged with the open side turned towards the bars or wires of the positive grid G<2>, the cathode filaments K being mounted in front of or in the gaps between the trough-shaped members G<1>; the brake electrode consists of a flat plate A. The oscillation circuits consist of pairs of parallel conductors L<1>, L<2> bridged by condensers C.Bl, the conductors L<1> being connected between the grid G<1> and the cathode, and the conductors L<2> between the grid G<2> and the cathode, so that the two circuits are coupled through the internal capacity of the valve between the grid G<1> and the cathode, and the alternating potentials on the grids are in phase. In a modification, (Fig. 2, not shown), the electrodes are arranged concentrically. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also an arrangement in which one pair of parallel conductors is connected with the brake electrode and the positive grid, and the other pair with the brake electrode and the negative grid. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
