Abstract
562,299. Electron multipliers. BOSCH, F. J. G. VAN DEN, and VACUUMSCIENCE PRODUCTS, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1940, No. 12620. [Class 39 (i)] Electron discharge apparatus, particularly for dealing with ultra-high frequencies, comprises a cathode 10 and anode 12, and interposed therebetween secondary electron emitting electrodes 11, two pairs of electrodes 13, 14 to which alternating potentials are applied as by an alternator 8, and a pair of output electrodes 20, 21 connected to antennµ 7. Alternatively, the two collecting electrodes may be replaced by a single electrode where pulsating D.C. current is used in the output circuit. The electron stream may be signal modulated by a control grid 15 and input circuit 16, or the signals may be applied to the alternator 8. The pairs of electrodes 13, 14 may be connected in parallel and may be connected to a preceding secondary - electron emitting electrode through a phase regulating device 18, 19. The secondary-electron emitting electrodes may have equipotential grids 5 as described in Specification 531,541. Specification 562,300 also is referred to.
