Abstract

686,577. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 2, 1951, No. 2652/51. Class 39(i) [Also in Group XXXVI] In a double triode having separate cathodes, and intended for use as a grounded grid amplifier in the frequency range 50-450 Mc/s, the grids are coupled together so that with push-pull input the H.F. potential difference between them is less than half the H.F. potential difference between the two cathodes. Fig. 2 shows an embodiment designed for transmitting purposes, and operating under class C condtions, with a suitable push-pull circuit. A condenser 20 couples the two grids 4, which are taken to ground through biasing networks 21, 22. 17 and 16 are tuned input and output circuits. Fig. 5 shows a practical form of the valve, each triode section being of similar construction to the valve described in Specification 668,443. The two anode portions 37 of each triode are connected above the upper mica spacer 32 by a bridge member 39, 40. The anode connections are taken out through top caps 31, all the remaining connections passing out through the valve base. The coupling condenser is of laminated construction and is attached under the lower mica spacer 33, as at 42. Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown) are of a modified valve construction and circuit for receiving purposes, operating under Class A conditions. In this form the grids are connected directly.
