699,713. Valve non-linear amplifying circuit. EDISON SWAN ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Sept. 6, 1951 [Sept. 8, 1950], No. 21106/51. Class 40 (vi). In a television system, contrast-distortion due to the brightness/grid voltage curve of the C.R.T. of the receiver is reduced by interposing a differential amplifier V2, V1<SP>1</SP>, one valve V2 being fed directly with the input V while the other is fed from a variable-mu cathode follower V1. The valves V2, V2<SP>1</SP> are coupled over resistor R3 and the output is taken from the anodes of terminals 3, 4. Specification 536,089 is referred to.
