Abstract
760,257. Non-linear discharge tube circuits. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND), Ltd., S. March 24, 1955 [March 2, 1954], No. 6155/54. Class 40(6) In a negative feed back amplifier for amplifying signals between predetermined limits, and having a capacitor in the feed back loop, a non-linear impedance is connected between the input terminals having high impedence for signals between the predetermined limits and lower impedance for larger signals. The circuit is described as applied to a Miller integrator, the input being applied between terminal 3 and earth over resistor 4 to the grid of cathodefollower valve 5, feeding -a grounded grid stage which in turn feeds the pentode amplifier 7. A connection is made from the anode to the cathode-follower output valve 8, a capacitor 15 being connected between the cathode and the grid of valve 5. Two germanium diodes 16, 17 are connected between the grid of valve 5 and earth, the combination having high impedance for small signals and low impedance for larger signals, Fig. 2 (not shown). The diodes also prevent the potential of the grid of valve 5 from varying appreciably from earth. Networks 13, 14 are included to maintain the amplifier response. Output may be taken from the potentiometer 10.
