Abstract
653,505. Valve relay circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. May 23, 1947, No. 13946. [Class 40 (vi)] In a gated amplifier, giving a pus pull output, the input signal is applied to the grid of at least one of two valves V1, V2 and the gating signal is fed to the grid of a third valve V3 of high impedance in the common cathode lead. Positive bias potentials are applied to the grids of valves V1, V2 from tapping points P1, P2 respectively on parallel resistors 3R1, 4R1, forming part of a potentiometer across the H.T. supply. The cathodes of V1, V2 and the anode of V3 are connected to the junction of high resistors PR1, PR2 across the H.T. supply. Normally, non-conducting valve V3 is rendered conductive by gating pulses applied to the grid to allow V1, V2 to operate. Valves V1, V2 are balanced by adjusting PI or P1 and P2. The valves are preferably pentodes.
