Abstract
542,035. Valve amplifying circuits. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and McCONNELL, E. D. June 21, 1940, No. 10697. [Class 40 (v)] An electrical transmission line is terminated by a push-pull amplifier so arranged that more than half the signal is fed to each valve and wherein the cathode coupled impedance of the valves is equal to or greater than the characteristic impedance of the line. The Fig. 4 shows an arrangement in which the grids and cathodes are cross connected and the output is taken from load resistances 14, 15. Padding resistances 18A, 19A are connected between each side of the line and earth to reduce the terminating impedance to a desired value. If the valves are triodes the resistances 14, 15 may be used to increase the cathode coupled impedance to the requisite value. Resistances 20, 21 may, in addition, be provided so that the effect of unbalanced input signals and spurious voltages may be balanced out
