Abstract
454,760. Thermionic valves. VEREINIGTE GLUHLAMPEN UND ELECTRICITATS AKT.-GES., Ujpest, near Budapest. April 11, 1935, No. 5451/36. Convention date, April 11, 1934. Divided out of 454,606. [Class 39 (i)] An amplifying tube has four grid electrodes, the first grid 5, counting from the cathode 2, being connected metallically to the fourth grid 8 and the second and third grids 6, 7 being connected metallically to each other. The connections are made within the bulb or cap of the tube. In a modification, the fourth grid is connected, within the bulb or cap, to the cathode 2. The tube shown is used in the circuit claimed in Specification 454,606, grids 6, 7 being connected to a constant positive potential and grids 5, 8 acting as input grids. Higher sensitivity is obtained at low anode voltages. For high-frequency amplification, screens may be applied to either of the second or third grids and also to the fourth grid if this is connected to the cathode ; or the screens may be insulated from the grids and earthed or connected to the cathode. To reduce current to the grids 6, 7 the wires forming the grids may be arranged to cover each other in planes perpendicular to the cathode.
