Abstract

737,300. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 27, 1953 [July 30, 1952], No. 20771/53. Class 39(1). An electrode system is supported from the envelope by means of a mica spacer whose edges consist of arcs which make obtuse internal angles at each intersection. Mica disc 5 has its edges formed by four arcs of radius Rc, preferably 20-30 per cent greater than Rb, the internal radius of that part of the envelope with which the mica engages. The diameter of the mica from corner to corner is at least 0.5 per cent greater than 2 Rb and the tolerance of Rb is less than 0.33 per cent. Elongated micas may be obtained by varying Rc for two arcs located opposite each other. Each electrode may alternatively have a separate mica support.
