Abstract
460,700. Thermionic valves. PINTSCH AKT.-GES., J. Aug. 19, 1936, No. 22836. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1935. Addition to 452,490. [Class 39 (i)] In an ultra-shortwave valve having a hollow space resonator bounded by an inner conductor having a grid portion with which the cathode is coaxial, and an outer coaxial conductor, the distance between these conductors is large except in the excitation region where it is reduced without altering the external shape of the valve. In one form, the resonator is formed by an outer conductor 1 continuous with a cylinder 5 and plate 8, and an inner conductor comprising portions 2, 2<1> joined by discs 13 to a large diameter grid 12. A hairpin cathode 14 is mounted inside the grid and an electrode 9 insulated by members 10 from the conductor 1 forms the third electrode. The conductor 2 is continued to form an aerial 7. Discs 22, 22<1> connected to the cathode or biassed negatively screen the discs 13 from the discharge. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the grid is of the same diameter as the conductors 2, 2<1> and an annular member secured to the electrode 9 near its middle reduces the distance between the grid and the third electrode in the excitation region. The valve is operated in the Barkhausen-Kurz circuit. Specification 449,920 is referred to.
