W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Naamlooze Vennootschap Machinerieen-en Apparaten Fabrieken Meaf; 30, Croeselaan, Utrecht, Holland) June 30, 1934, No. 32290/35. Divided out of 440,566. [Class 39 (i)] A gas- or vapour-filled tube has one or more apertured screens between the anode and the cathode and the apertures are such that at some particular current value within the normal working current range of the tube the currentvoltage characteristic has a positive slope, and an electrode system is provided which controls the discharge after its passage through the aperture. After passing the aperture F, the discharge may pass also through an apertured anode A and, after control by deflecting plates D, fall upon a fluorescent screen L. In another arrangement, for amplification purposes, the beam, after passing the aperture, is deflected by plates onto one or other of two anodes connected across the primary of an output transformer. The screen B may be used to facilitate starting, as described in Specification 440,566. Specification 404,455 also is referred to.
