Abstract
556,046. Cathode ray tubes. COSSOR. Ltd.. A. C. March 14, 1942, No. 3389. [Class 39 (i)] An electron gun has the control electrode 2 and the first anode 3 in the form of apertured discs with dished parts convex to the cathode, the apertured cup 31 of the anode entering the cup 21 of the control electrode. The crossover formed by these electrodes with the cathode is focused on a fluorescent screen by a further lens consisting of the electrodes 4 and 5 at the same potential as the anode 3 and an intervening electrode 6 at a much lower positive potential. An apertured disc electrode directly connected to the electrode 4 and between this electrode and the anode 3 may be used to mask down the beam to prevent it impinging on the electrode 6. Sizes of the electrodes 2, 3 and spacings are given for one example.
