Abstract
601,948. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Aug. 1, 1946, No. 22919. Convention date, March 13, 1940. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode-ray tube in which the beam is accelerated after deflection, astigmation introduced by the cylindrical lens formed between the last deflecting plates and the accelerating electrode is compensated by a further cylindrical lens crossed with reference to the first lens and arranged between these plates and the screen. In one form, extensions 15, 16, Fig. 4, are secured to the constant potential plate 2 and are symmetrical about the plane of deflection. If the deflection is symmetrical, each extension is made in two parts which are cross-connected to opposite plates. Alternatively the accelerating electrodes 12, 13, Fig. 6, may be distorted as at 20 to introduce the desired cylindrical component. The subject-matter is identical with that of Specification 553,466. Specifications 451,574, 473,675 and 479,064 are referred to.
