Abstract
905,351. Colour television tubes. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Jan. 27, 1959 [Jan. 27, 1958], No. 2967/59. Class 39 (1). A colour television tube of the focusing mask variety in which the mask 13 is maintained at a considerably lower potential than the anode 25 and the screen 11 to provide a focusing effect for the beam at each aperture in the mask, is provided with spaced electrodes 26, 27, circumscribing the space between the plane of deflection and the mask, to which potentials are applied such as to prevent the beam from being undesirably refracted by the field between the anode and the mask in different amounts varying with the angle of deflection. Preferably the potentials applied thereto are such that at all angles of deflection the beam follows paths r which go through apertures in the mask and strike points on the screen lying substantially on straight lines A-A going through a point on the deflection plane. As shown, the anode 25, the electrode 27 and the screen are at 18,000 volts and the electrode 26 and the mask 13 at 6,000 volts.
