Abstract
884,300. Cathode-ray tubes. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. March 27, 1958 [March 27, 1957], No. 9798/58. Class 39(1) In a post-deflection acceleration cathoderay tube in which the action of the accelerating field 13 adjacent the second deflection system 12 is to converge the beam towards the axis only in one plane of deflection, Fig. 3a, an intermediate line image 14 is formed between the deflection system 12 and the screen 6 by the action of a lens 11. The line image is magnified by the field 13 and reproduced inverted on the screen. The lens 11 is preferably cylindrical and may vary in refractive power in relation to the angle of deflection produced by the first deflection system 10 in such a way as to overcome spot distortion at the screen The field 13 may have the action of a toroidal lens and produce a weak convergence or a divergence of the beam in the orthogonal plane of deflection, Fig. 3b, or no refractive effect may be produced in this plane. The principal converging lens 3 may be rotationally symmetrical, cylindrical or toroidal.
