Abstract

1403936 Electron guns HITACHI Ltd 11 April 1973 [12 April 1972] 17286/73 Heading H1D An electron gun includes at least two unipotential electron lenses 9, 10 made up respectively of electrodes 4, 5, 6 and 6, 7, 8 and the arrangement is such that the lens 9 which is nearest the cathode 1 is made more powerful than the succeeding lens 10. This can be achieved by making l 5 and l 7 and/or l 6 greater than the corresponding distances in the succeeding lens. Three unipotential lenses can be provided, Fig. 3 (not shown), with the powers of the lenses increasing along the electron path. Detailed dimensions and operating potentials of the electrodes are described.
