Abstract
1,004,949. Cathode-ray storage tubes. C.S.F.- COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. April 22, 1963 [May 3, 1962], No. 15709/63. Heading H1D. In a direct viewing storage tube having a fluorescent screen 13, a storage grid 14, a " writing " electron gun 2 on the tube axis and a " flooding " electron gun 17 off, and tilted with respect 6, the tube axis, means including a decelerating grid 16 are provided for modifying the paths 21 of the slow, flood, electrons so as to make them substantially perpendicular to the storage grid before reaching the plane of the grid. In the example, electrons in the beam 21 from the gun 17 arrive at the decelerating grid 16 at substantially zero velocity, traverse the grid and are then accelerated by the collector grid 15 and flood the entire surface of the storage grid 14 perpendicularly. This gives uniform flooding with an off-set flood gun.
