Abstract
1294425 Cathode-ray storage tubes TEK. TRONIX Inc 30 April 1971 [20 July 1970] 12308/71 Heading H1D A storage tube comprises a storage target 22 including a storage dielectric 28 and an electrode 26, a writing gun 12 producing an electron beam 16, deflection means 18, 20, electron guns 30 for producing low velocity electrons to uniformly flood the storage target, acceleration means 34 between the deflection means 18, 20 and the target 22, the arrangement being such that at least when the tube is used for storage the low velocity electrons from guns 30 do not pass through the acceleration means 34. This arrangement may be achieved by positioning the guns 30 between the acceleration means 34 and the target 22, or, Fig. 3 (not shown), arranging for the potentials of the acceleration means to be such that substantially reduced acceleration is caused when the guns 30 are used during storage operation. The acceleration means 34 may consist of a helical electrode on the inside of the envelope 10, or a ring (54), Fig. 2 (not shown), in which ease the deflecting fields are shielded by a perforated electrode (56).
