Abstract
1,256,195. Cathode-ray display tubes. MATSUSHITA ELECTRONICS CORP. 22 July, 1970 [23 July, 1969], No. 35556/70. Heading H1D. A cathode-ray display tube provided with two inclined electron guns 1 and 2 and with a post-deflection acceleration system, is characterized by the provision of a mesh electrode 10, Fig. 3, which co-operates with a wall coating 12 to form a divergent lens (shown diagrammatically at 15) so that the rasters scanned by the two guns may coincide. The mesh 3 may be mounted on the end of a cylindrical shield 14 and is preferably surrounded by a lens-correcting annulus 11 which may be connected to it or may be operated at an independent potential. The wall coating 12 extends along the envelope to the metal layer 13 behind the phosphor screen 4. In operation the potential V3 of the mesh may be 800-3000 V and the potential V4 of the coating may be two to ten times as much and may lie in the range 4-25 kV. The angle between the axes of the two guns may be 5-15 degrees.
