Abstract
1,160,022. Image intensifier tubes. RAULAND CORP. 16 Jan., 1967 [17 Feb., 1966] No. 2331/67. Heading HID. An image intensifier particularly for X-rays, gamma-rays or neutrons has the photo-cathode 20 of larger diameter than the diameter of the aperture of anode 22 and is provided with a pair of electrically independent electrodes 28, 29 of equal diameters longer than the cathode diameter. The potential applied to the first electrode 28 is such as to establish space charge limited emission from the photo-cathode and a lower potential applied to the second electrode 29 is such as to effect focusing of the electron image on the viewing screen 15. The diameter of the image on the viewing screen is intermediate the diameters of the anode aperture and the photo-cathode. Suitable dimensions are given.
